Mondaine’s “plant a tree” special event

On the company’s special “plant a tree” event we rolled up our sleeves and joined forces with customers, influencers, media, retailers, and company colleagues to plant trees in Switzerland. The selected area was in the municipality of Meilen at Lake Zurich and had previously been deforested.

Our day started with a welcome speech from our CEO Niels Møller and our SVP Brand Mondaine & M+WATCH Thomas Nedergaard. We talked about sustainability at Mondaine and the importance of taking care of our planet. Of course, our latest seasonal watch collections (essence and classic) made with environmentally friendly materials, are a vivid proof of Mondaine’s commitment to tackle climate change and protect the livelihoods of future generations.

How to plant a tree?

After grabbing some delicious breakfast, we went into the forest to learn from the local ranger how to plant a tree. It seems easy, but trees need to be planted carefully and protected with a fence from wild animals, so that they have the best chance at growing.

Effective measurement against climate change

Tree planting is one of the most effective ways to stop climate change because when tress grow, they absorb carbon dioxide (CO2), a major greenhouse gas. We ended up beating our initial goal and planting more trees than expected, among an enthusiastic crowd!

Actions speak louder than words

To wrap everything up, we enjoyed a vegan lunch and got to share our impressions with one another. This event was a milestone towards creating meaningful sustainability initiatives that can make a real difference in our communities. There is still so much more we can do for our planet and for its people, and we are excited that Mondaine is part of this journey for continuous sustainable development.
