The entire Mondaine group is one of the few global watch brands to be 100% carbon neutral. So it's no surprise that 2022 starts with another sustainable innovation. We have partnered with VEGEA™ - an Italian company specializing in turning winemaking waste into a plant-based leather alternative.
The high-quality grape compound represents a valuable upcycling without price increase and can be considered as one of the plant-based alternatives to real leather of the future. Currently our Classic and evo2 collections are available in grape leather.
When looking for alternatives to animal leather for the production of watch straps, one material caught the eye in terms of quality: vegan grape leather. Everything that cannot be used at the end of the winemaking process - namely the grape pomace, consisting of stems, pips and skins - is processed into grape leather. Real upcycling.

50% recycled polyester
23% water-based polyurethane
(more sustainable than traditional polyurethane as no chemical solvents being involved in the production process)
